Why We Celebrate Global Wind Day
Brüel & Kjær Vibro has a keen interest in the renewable energy sector, and wind power is an important one. In fact, altogether, we have delivered over 30,000 wind turbine monitoring systems worldwide. Our renowned Monitoring and Diagnostic Service Centres in USA, Denmark, and China, however, even go one step further. Just within the last four years, we have been keeping a watchful eye on an average of 3500 wind turbines each year. Here we are responsible ourselves for the predictive health care of these turbines 24/7, worldwide.
How much power are we managing in these service centers? With an average output of 2.5 MW per turbine, these 3500 wind turbines correspond to almost 20,000 GWh per year. This is enough energy to supply almost 4.8 million European households. Our unique condition monitoring solution ensures maximum power availability with minimal maintenance.
In total, the wind turbines we have been personally monitoring are saving over 11 million tons of CO2 per year. This corresponds to the amount of emissions that would have normally been produced by thermal power plants. What is our contribution to a cleaner environment and why do we celebrate global wind day? Even by increasing wind turbine availability by only 2% with our monitoring solution, we are saving almost a quarter of a million tons of CO2 emissions per year.
DDAU3 Wind Turbine Condition Monitoring
With more than 30,000 condition monitoring units sold, DDAU is one of Brüel & Kjær Vibro’s biggest success stories. DDAU3 is the latest generation that greatly exceeds its predecessors. It is a flexible, state-of-the-art machine monitoring unit with powerful built-in analysis capabilities. DDAU3 is able to perform today’s most demanding condition monitoring and diagnostic tasks. Yet it still provides a platform for customization and development for future monitoring requirements.
