Data integration for condition monitoring

A production plant usually requires a wide variety of machines. Some of these machines are already equipped with protection systems, while others are retrofitted by the operator. The result is that there is often more than one type of machine protection system in the plant. The ideal solution is just one condition monitoring system, which integrates all the machine’s condition information irrespective of the protection system used and that also offers the option to integrate additional measuring points.

Brüel & Kjær Vibro now offers an ideal solution for this challenge! The Condition Monitoring Interface VI-6080 together with Compass 6000™ enables predictive maintenance for all machines. In the simplest case, if a machine is equipped with the reliable machine protection system VIBROCONTROL 6000®, the data from the VIBROCONTROL 6000® system is conveyed to Compass 6000™. All the other machines, which are equipped with machine protection systems from other manufacturers and are provided with buffered outputs (in accordance with API 670), can be easily integrated in Compass 6000™ via the Condition Monitoring Interface VI-6080. Non-critical machines that are not equipped with a machine protection system, but are important for predictive maintenance of the plant, can also be integrated by installing additional sensors and integrating their signals in Compass 6000™ via the Condition Monitoring Interface VI-6080. The benefits are obvious:

  • Only one single configuration and diagnostic software!
  • All the information about the status of a plant is summarized in a powerful condition monitoring system

Sensors (1) transmit vibration, displacement and process signals to the machine protection system, be it a VIBROCONTROL 6000®, a VIBROCONTROL 4000 or any other supplier's brand (2).

Via the buffered outputs (3) of the protection system, the analog signals are transmitted to the Brüel & Kjaer Vibro VI-6080 Condition Monitoring Interface (4). The signals are then processed and stored on the Compass 6000™ database server for trending and analysis (5).

Easy to use: There is only one user interface to configure the VI-6080 modules as well as parametrize Compass 6000™ . The VI-6080 can also be accessed by a web interface, independently from the Compass 6000™.
