Energy - the most important commodity in any nation; and the power-generating industry has an indispensable role to play in continuous provision of an energy source. Within the framework of a total safety and predictive monitoring strategy, machines can be generally divided into three groups, each with quite different requirements, requiring different solutions:
Main turbine-generator sets, because of their criticality require a multi-channel, integrated safety monitoring and predictive monitoring system with an on-line, high-speed, event-oriented, parallel-channel data acquisition system, with archiving, diagnostics and analysis software,
Main auxiliary machines, providing essential services for the main turbine-generators, which can served by an on-line, parallel-channel safety monitoring system and a multiplexed data acquisition system for predictive monitoring, with data archiving and analysis software,
Sub-auxiliary machines, that can be protected by off-line predictive monitoring system consisting of a portable data-acquisition and analysing instrument and an appropriate software program for long-term data archiving and analysis.
