Brüel & Kjær Vibro Wins Order from Northern Asia Petrochemical Customer
Brüel & Kjær Vibro has been awarded a contract for supplying a turnkey condition monitoring and machine protection solution to the polyethylene production site of a major integrated olefin and polyolefin plant in Northern Asia. The comprehensive monitoring solution includes a number of Brüel & Kjær Vibro systems, such as VIBROCONTROL 6000® for machine protection, Compass 6000™ and VDAU-6000 for condition monitoring, VIBROTEST (VT-80) portable instruments, hundreds of sensors approved for arctic temperatures and a complete package of services.
The 1.5 million tons per year polyethylene greenfield plant has a number of critical and balance of plant machine trains that will be remotely monitored for protection and condition monitoring. These include centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, extruders and blowers. An important part of the project is importing and exporting data to and from the distributed control system, and securely sending this information to the data historian. World-class project management and training were also considered important by the customer.
“This plant presented a unique environmental challenge to potential suppliers”, says Brüel & Kjær Vibro’s project manager, Stefanie Erath. “This project has tough demands with regards to the special operating conditions and the strict production reliability requirements that only very few suppliers can satisfy. Our product offering and our extensive experience in the olefin and polyolefin industry combined with our wide range of services enable us to execute this project at the highest level.”
The condition monitoring portion of the system is expected to reduce the life cycle operating costs of the machines by reducing maintenance and maximizing production uptime and reliability for years to come.
