Every 12-15 months the subcommittee 5 of ISO (International Standards Organization), namely the subcommittee for condition monitoring and diagnostics of Machines, holds a week long plenary meeting for approximately 22 participating countries in different parts of the world. Subcommittee 5 is one of several subcommittees under ISO technical committee 108 (shock and vibration). This year’s meeting was held in Copenhagen, Denmark from June 15-19, 2009.
Over 50 specialists from around the world participated in 12 different working and advisory groups to create new standards and update or remove existing ones. These standards concern machine condition monitoring and diagnostic techniques, prognostics, data communications, training and more. There are 17 standards already published and a number are under preparation.
Dansk Standard, the national standardisation organisation of Denmark, was the official host for the plenary and provided the meeting facilities, lunches, refreshments, delegate registration and hotel bookings. Brüel & Kjær Vibro was the primary sponsor took care of some of the delegate material needs as well as being the sponsor for the mid-week social event, which included dinner and a harbour cruise in Copenhagen.
Brüel & Kjær Vibro, the leading independent supplier of machine condition monitoring solutions in the world, has a keen interest in the ISO TC108/SC05 activities.
