Pelton Turbine

The Pelton turbine is an impulse turbine in which water is piped at high pressure to a nozzle where it quickly expands to atmospheric pressure. The emerging jet of water impacts the blades (or buckets) of the turbine producing the required torque and power output. The water head is normally between about 90 and 900 m, but some of today’s designs operate up to 2,000 m.

As with the Francis and Kaplan turbines, Brüel & Kjær Vibro offers condition and performance monitoring solutions for a number of the critical components.
