| Reciprocating compressors are difficult machines to monitor and often require a combination of several functions. The monitoring system must integrate functions such as safety, condition, performance and diagnostic monitoring in combination with an easy access to all of the required process parameters. A one or two point Rod Drop method combined with all the required monitoring techniques are included in the Compass on-line system. A DCS process parameter import is a typical part of the vibration monitoring system in order not to introduce redundant measurements. The following components with potential failure modes and wear are monitored by the integrated Compass system using the following techniques: - Motor drive Vibration
- Rider rings Full two point Rod Drop monitoring
- Bearings Temperature and Vibration
- Valves Temperature and Performance
- Stuffing box Temperature and Performance
- Crosshead Vibration
- Piston rings Vibration
